How to Setup WordPress Using NameCheap?

WordPress is one of the most popular blogging platforms out there, and one of its biggest advantages is its ease of installation and operation. In this guide, we'll walk you through the most popular ways to install WordPress.
👉 Installing with the help of Softaculous. Softaculous is a well-known Auto Installer that automates the installation of applications.

👉 If you want to install WordPress on your own, you can follow our step by step manual installation guide.

👉 For more advanced users who want to install WordPress locally to test their site, you can also follow our instructions for installing WordPress on Windows or OS X.

There are a couple of things you need to do before we get started with WordPress installation. First, you need to find a domain name for your website and a hosting company to host it. After that, you need to decide what kind of WordPress installation works best for you. There are many ways to install WordPress using various software and platforms, such as cPanel, filezilla with filezilla, MySQL, etc. EasyWP is a great option for optimized WordPress hosting.

If you want to use the platform's famous 5-minute installation, you'll need to make sure your host provides a solution like softaculous. If you want to install WordPress manually, you'll use FTP or cpanel. If you're looking to test out WordPress, you'll perform your installation locally using wamp or MAMP, or you'll use Microsoft's Visual Studio to create your local server.

Installing WordPress automatically

Cpanel Dashboard WordPress installation

To install Softaculous apps, log into your cPanel and click on the Softaculous apps Installer icon. If you are a namecheap user, you can follow this step-by-step guide to install Softaculous.

Click on the WordPress logo and select the Install tab.

Now, on this page, you will need to fill in the following information about your WordPress installation:

✔️ Select the domain you want to install WordPress on
✔️ Select the root directory for installation
The Directory field is blank by default, so WordPress will assume you are using WordPress on your site, for example yourdomain.com
✔️ Select a subfolder for installation if only your blog is powered by WordPress, such as yourdomain.com / blog
✔️ Select the Database Name as default
Select the wp_; table prefix as default, but for security we recommend changing it to a unique one, such as wpwbsitename_.
✔️ Select the Site Settings (can be changed at any time as required)
👉 Hit Install when youre ready.

Now it’s time for Softaculous to step in. It’ll run the installer using the settings you’ve given it and send you a success message as soon as it’s finished.

Once you’re done with the installer, you’ll be prompted for a login to your Dash. Once you’ve done that, Softaculous will take care of the rest.

Here’s how it works:

First, the installer will run using the settings you gave it. Once it’s up and running, it’ll send you a message that says “Welcome to your site”.

Second, the installer will send you a link that takes you to your site.

Finally, there’ll be another link that directs you to your WordPress Admin area.

Click on the second link and log in to your dashboard.

Installing WordPress Manually

WordPress can also be installed manually. Although this method requires a few extra steps to build your website, some people prefer this method.

Manually installing WordPress gives you the option of creating a website or using the software to manage your development from a secure location since it is installed locally.

To manually install WordPress, you must:

download and upload WordPress files
create a database
install WordPress.

Step 1. Download WordPress

Check out the latest version of WordPress at WordPress.org. Download the zip file and save it to a hard-to-find place; your desktop, for example. Once WordPress downloads the zip file to your computer, upload it to your hosting account.

Step 2. Upload WordPress to your hosting account

There are two ways you can upload files for WordPress hosting. One is using an FTP client such as Filezilla, and the other is using the File Manager in cPanel of your WordPress hosting account. Both of these methods work the same when you upload a.ZIP file, and there’s not much difference between them.

CPanel is a web application, and FileZilla is a desktop application. CPanel doesn’t need installation software to use, and it’s a browser-based application.

There’s a good reason to use FileZilla: it provides a stable environment for developers, and it helps with local backups of your website.

Step 3. Using FTP

This method uses the FTP (File Transfer Protocol) account information of your hosting account to transfer files from your PC to your WordPress site. This entire WordPress setup process takes a little longer than with cPanel’s File Manager.

If you’re looking to develop a website for programming, FTP is a great tool to use if you’re willing to put in some extra effort.

Upload file using File zilla

You will need an FTP like FileZilla to upload your site copy. In this example, we are using FileZilla but you can upload your files using any FTP program.

👉 Unpack (unzip) the zip file onto your computer

👉 Unload (extract) the files to the right directory in your hosting account

Upload WordPress and install

Once you’ve installed the programs you want to install, it’s time to open your hosting account and begin the installation process. You’ll want to do it in the way that works best for you, and there are two ways you can do this. You can manually install WordPress on the hosting server, or you can use a platform like Softaculous to install WordPress. Manual installation takes longer and is more technical, so if you have a host that offers a quick installation option, we recommend you take advantage of it.

On the other hand, if you’re installing WordPress on a computer, you’ll need to go through a different process. We’ll cover this in the following sections:

Conclusion

The method given above is the easiest method.  With the help of which you can easily install WordPress on your new server.  Apart from this, there are many other methods with the help of which you will be able to install WordPress on your new server.  To know about other methods you can subscribe to our "BigBloggerTips" website.  Or you can tell us about other problems by commenting in our comment box.
